Cosmic Encounters Inspiration Post - Nicolette deSada

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00U1QZRJ2

Cosmic Encounters is an anthology of science fiction stories all with an erotic slant. There are stories from the near future to others taking place on a far flung world. As is custom with most of my anthologies there is a wide number of pairings and heat levels.

Second to speak about their inspiration behind their story is Nicolette deSada. She is the writer behind the story Catching the Virus.

Here is the blurb:

In a repressed dystopia run by a tyrannical government, Jules – a lonely computer geek – enters a virtual-reality cyberworld to help a friend find and destroy some illegal photo files of an illicit nature. However, he gets more than he bargained for when he encounters Virus, a hacker who manipulates the cyberworld to suit his own agenda. Though Jules is only in the cyberworld to retrieve his friend’s photo files, he finds the mysterious hacker an irresistible temptation. Blending noir with cyberpunk, CATCHING THE VIRUS is the first in a series of erotic adventures that pits an innocent against a jaded, but sexy fugitive.

Now without further ado I will pass you all over to Nicolette to explain the inspiration for the story:

What inspired me to write CATCHING THE VIRUS…

My Dad bought me my first computer when I was 13 years old. It was an old Macintosh that was already nearing the end of its days. Though it was limited in function, I positively loved the thing. I wrote my first short story on it (which was lost to the world when the old Mac finally decided to crash and burn). After that, I got my first desktop PC, which was decidedly more capable in terms of power. I also was gifted with an internet connection, which started my foray into the World Wide Web. By the time I was 16, I was something of a computer nerd and spent a good portion of my free time at the keyboard.

Now, I’m no hacker, but I became fascinated by the world of hackers and the muse struck me with an idea for a story about a “networld" called Invoke. Built and maintained by a network of elite, blackhat hackers who wanted nothing more than to be a thorn in the side of an elitist government, Invoke began life as the barebones idea for a futuristic, sci-fi adventure story. Sadly, I got no further with the characters or plot beyond that and the idea was sentenced to sit in my digital drawer of abandoned story plots. Years passed and then I saw the Call for Submission to Cosmic Encounters and, suddenly, everything started to come together. The virtual reality networld of Invoke and the characters who inhabit its digital landscapes suddenly became very realistic to me.

I would like to think CATCHING THE VIRUS is the first in a long line of interrelated short stories that provides a unique take on the erotic potential of virtual reality. Eric Schmidt defined the internet as “the largest experiment in anarchy that we have ever had.” What better way to harness that potential than a networld run by underground hackers as a means of sticking it to a repressive government bent on carefully monitoring everything civilians do?

I enjoyed writing about the world of Invoke and its characters and I plan to return to Invoke for many more stories. I have much in store for Virus and Jules and everyone else who will manage to get caught in the networld’s web (pun intended!).

So, what’s in the future for Invoke and its characters? Well, I’m planning to further explore the networld, the repressive government, the characters, the virtual and the real sex, everything! I have plans for a spin-off that will be set in the future, years after the events that feature Jules and Virus. Since I have plans to illustrate my work in the future, the spin-off may even be illustrated! I haven’t decided yet, but I do know that Jules and Virus’ story is a prelude to what will follow.

I am looking forward to seeing more of these two characters!

Cosmic Encounters Inspiration Post - Vanessa de Sade

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00U1QZRJ2

Cosmic Encounters is an anthology of science fiction stories all with an erotic slant. There are stories from the near future to others taking place on a far flung world. As is custom with most of my anthologies there is a wide number of pairings and heat levels.

As happens with my anthologies I asked the contributors for a short piece explaining the inspiration behind their story so keep an eye out for them!

For the first one I'm pleased to welcome Vanessa de Sade who is the genius behind the story: The Story of Snow White.

Here is the blurb:

The year is 2076 and the long war is finally concluded by a germ attack which affects semen and makes sexual contact with the male species fatal. Meanwhile, Snow White, hidden in the crumbling apartment of the Dwarf, remembers her fall from grace and her tempestuous affair with the Queen…

So without further ado I welcome Vanessa to the blog to speak about the inspiration behind her story:

The Story of Snow White
This story began, as many of my pieces often do, with a single line that popped into my head over the breakfast toast one grey and rainy morning:

"The Dwarf was looking dispiritedly through the wanted ads in The Stage when Snow White came in, shaking the cold and wet off her coat."

But, despite having an initial premise and some characters I still didn't have a story. Where was this action taking place, for example? Not in some Germanic fairy tale woodland, that was for sure, and there was already a good dose of gritty urban realism in that one line alone, so I knew that Snow White and the Dwarf were trying to make a go of things in a city somewhere, and that times were tough. The Dwarf was obviously having to demean himself by performing in dodgy stage shows, but what about Snow White, how was she contributing?

The answer came, strangely and rather obliquely, from an old Tom Waits song. In the kingdom of the blind the one-eyed man is king… What if this was a world where blood was infected and pure blood was at a premium? That was good, but why were Snow White and the Dwarf hiding out if they had a saleable asset like that? The Wicked Queen, of course, the psychotic despot who wanted to be the fairest in the land and wanted Snow White dead! And, instantly, a picture of a depraved and sexually rapacious version of the original Disney villainess sprang into my mind.

From then on it was plain-sailing. The crumbling towers of Armageddonist Britain quickly formed themselves and it wasn't long before I was shaping the Queen's black velvet chamber with its all-seeing mirror and sexually inviting darkness. But I needed a Prince, and I didn't want just any conventional hero figure, so, without much prompting, my warped brain came up with the wonderfully tragic Doctor who's a melding of the original Woodsman and Prince Charming. How? You'll have to read the story!
* * *
I'm particularly fond of this story and the bleak world that the characters inhabit, which, while far away from the Grimm original on the surface, is, in fact, the same dark tale set in the concrete forests of a dystopian society and just as darkly sexy as the nineteenth century folk tale would have been before it was cleaned-up for publication. Plus, of course, I got to create a colour palette that pays homage to my love of old 1930s films, so, all in all, this one has been a real winner for me!

About Vanessa
Vanessa de Sade is a forty-something full-figure gal who likes to write hot stories about real women exploring the darker regions of their own sexuality. She is the author of the novel, Maid for Milking, and her many short stories can be found in countless anthologies. Her solo collections to date are Black & White Movies, Nude Shots, Tales from a Tangled Bush and In the Forests of the Night.

Cosmic Encounters Released

Well it's been a long time coming and this blog post apparently has been even longer but Cosmic Encounters it now finally out!

So if you like erotica and science fiction why not pick up a copy? It is available in ebook format and will soon be available in print.

I have always loved science fiction, writers like Asimov never stop to amaze and excite me and that for me is what reading should be. You should finish a story with a sense of excitement and interest in the world you have just joined. If this holds for other genres as well as it does for Science fiction I'm yet to really decide although I think all stories should have an element of excitement, at the end of it you want to know you've read something and feel it!

I was really happy to receive so many great stories for Cosmic Encounters and had great fun reading through the submissions before settling upon the stories that you will find inside.

There is once more a full spectrum of pairings, sexuality and in since it's a science fiction anthology technology and species.

Over the next few weeks I'll be posting up short excerpts of the stories and all being well pieces of inspiration in the authors own words. However in the meantime here is the table of contents and of course the awesome cover (Personally I love it so I'm going to shout out about it as much as possible!)

An update or two....and a release!

Phew okay so last week I'm minding my own business getting things done, I put up Alison Tyler's guest blog and then boom! no internet - at all...it's just dead. Also no phone line - which makes things a little awkward. (I'm totally not blaming Alison Tyler but you know....coincidences? :) )

I've spent a week shouting rather loudly at the router which has spent the week blissfully ignoring me and now I'm sat writing this elsewhere. Since apparently in a week a lot can happen this is going to be a post of all kinds of things - *takes a deep breath*

First off!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KV1SKVE

Rachel Kramer Bussel's newest book The Big Book of Submission - 69 Kinky Tales is now out! This book was released in print earlier this month but it is also now finally out in ebook format so I'm considering it finally released. Within this book is my story Lost in the Feeling. I have read many of Rachel's anthologies over the past few years and more recently listened to them thanks to the gorgeous and talented Rose Caraway (and Big Daddy of course). This however is the first time that Rachel's accepted any of my work - it was an exciting day when I got the email!

You can find The Big Book of Submission here:

Amazon UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KV1SKVE
Amazon USA: http://amzn.com/B00KV1SKVE

Then in a little while the really exciting news is that Rose Caraway is going to be putting it to audio! With 69 different stories you really aren't going to be able to go wrong with this one.

I will be posting up more bits about this book as time goes on including a short excerpt but if you really can't wait I suggest you pop over to here: The Big Book of Submission: 69 Kinky Tales

Now! Next thing to announce....

If you buy Valves & Vixens (thank you thank you thank you!) email me the receipt and I will put you into a draw to win a Professor Elemental CD (or if you would prefer it all on mp3 that, or a t-shirt).
If you buy something to do with Professor Elemental (from here: http://www.professorelemental.com/emporium) even if it's just one song email me proof of it and I will put you into a draw to win a print copy of Valves & Vixens.

And! If you are wonderful and buy something from both of us send me both receipts and I will put you into the draw twice to win something of your choice from one of us (ie. a back copy of a book, a cd etc..)

This give-away will be continuing until the end of August so you can always get multiple entries in!

As for everything else - Cosmic Encounters authors should more or less have all heard back from me by now if you haven't it's because I'm still pondering. If you haven't had an email from me and want to ask what's going on by all means contact me.

Writing is continuing I have lots of pieces on the go as usual and of course with none/no internet I really have no excuse so forgive me if I go and publish this and then get on with some more!

An update

Phew now where were we - oh yes so things have been very crazy over the past few weeks and I've ended up doing too many things all at once just to try and stay afloat. I ended up going away for a short time but had no internet - which was nice but I missed it in equal amounts!

So where are we on the writing front?

Well I've been working on a sequel to a story I've had out for a long time and it's coming along slowly. In the past I've started sequels for this story but have never settled on a storyline I was happy, however this time I believe I've cracked it. I can't say much more than that because I'm still writing it and I don't want to jinx myself but I'll keep you all updated with how it goes!

I'm also writing a erotic romance story that I've been planning for a while which has been going well. It's a different style to what I'm used to but I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Now in other news I'm sure you are all waiting for an update on Valves & Vixens. I'm just finishing off the file before it's being sent back to the publisher and then we'll be full steam ahead! The cover has been slightly changed to reflect the writer of the foreword. Without further ado here it is:

If you don't already know who Professor Elemental is check out some of his songs here: http://www.professorelemental.com/

Or check out some of his songs here:
Fighting Trousers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iRTB-FTMdk
Cup of Brown Joy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eELH0ivexKA
Splendid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1SWHan4ST4

Happily he managed to take some time out of his time travelling to write the foreword and I'm very glad he did. (Although I think we all made him blush).

Beyond that don't forget I'm still open to submissions for Cosmic Encounters my erotica Science Fiction anthology. The submission guidelines can be found here: http://nicolegestalt.blogspot.co.uk/p/blog-page_10.html

http://nicolegestalt.blogspot.co.uk/p/blog-page_10.html

The deadline is the 30th June so get writing!

Redesign

Well for regulars of this blog you couldn't help but notice (I hope!) that I've had a bit of a spring clean and redone the blog. I'm hoping that now it's far easier to see everything and yet at the same time clear and easy to read (fingers crossed).

This redesign has been done whilst my internet connection has been so bad I can't actually log into anything else - that includes emails. If I owe anyone an email please don't worry you've not missed it and it will be on its way shortly.

In other news I'm working my way through Valves & Vixens and it'll hopefully be done relatively soon! I'm very excited about this anthology and I've got some awesome authors involved - table of contents will be coming shortly!

As you may have also seen my submission guidelines for my erotic science fiction anthology, Cosmic Encounters, is now up (and even has it's own page after my redesign). Pop on over and have a look - even if you've never written science fiction before it might be a good time to give it a go!

http://nicolegestalt.blogspot.co.uk/p/blog-page_10.html

The deadline for submissions is June 30th so get writing!

As for me I'm currently working on a few stories that I've been wanting to work on for a while. I'm playing around with a short sexy piece set in the sun and of course I'm still working on all the other anthology calls that are out there!

I've also been working on a few ideas for a few standalone stories more information on those when I get into them.

Till then keep reading & writing and let me know what you think of the new blog design!

Call for Submissions - Cosmic Encounters - erotic science fiction tales

Well all Valves &Vixens authors should have been contacted by now, if you haven't had an email please contact me!

In the meantime allow me to introduce my next anthology which is science fiction in nature Cosmic Encounters. This anthology came about because of a few submissions I received for Valves & Vixens and I am happy to say is now going ahead! I love science fiction (and yes I know I said that about steampunk but a girl can see another genre behind the others back right?) and with a background in science I quite often wander into science fiction writing.

We have a cover but it is just being finalised and once it is I'll be the first to show it off! (from what I have seen so far it looks wonderful just the right amount of sexuality and science fiction in one perfect for this book).

Here is the cover!

th 2014 (Early Submissions are preferred.)

Editor/ Author Nicole Gestalt is looking for stories with a science fiction feel. These stories do not have to be focused on the far future or even the near future, they could be alternative histories or stories from far away worlds.

Be as inventive as you can but please don't forget the story line and the relationships! Since this is an erotic anthology there should be on the page sex scenes however don't forget the interaction between the characters and the relationship they have. The stories should either end with a Happy-For-Now or a Happy-Ever-After it would have to be a amazingly good story for me to select it if it didn't (but I am well prepared to have my opinion changed on that).

Nicole will be looking for stories that stand out so please don't just set your stories on Earth, they can be set anywhere in the solar system – or even outside of our galaxy. Don't be afraid to experiment

The No-No's: No scat, bestiality, under age sex, golden showers, rape or forced sex or incest of any kind and necrophilia (that does not include intelligent undead such as Vampires). If in doubt please ask

Please email your submissions to: gestaltanthologies@gmail.com

Authors must own their rights to the stories and not have had them published anywhere else. Please note the publisher has final approval over the stories included in the manuscript.

Don't forget to have fun with the writing! I can't wait to see what you all come up with
