First week of June

Phew and in a blink of an eye we are into the last half of 2015. I'm not going to ask where did the time go because in all honesty I have no clue. This first week however hasn't been too bad so far, yes things outside of writing are as hectic as before and no that isn't likely to change any-time soon (it's almost unusual to see me and Mr. G in the same place together these days) but I've got some good chunks of work done.

As many of you will know from the Valves & Vixens series I enjoy writing in the genre of Steampunk. All of the stories I have published and are still writing are within one world that of the infamous Captain Barnabus. However it is quite easy to loose track of characters, places and story-lines so I spent a good chunk of last week and this week going back through all the stories and collecting all the names and places mentioned. Of course since it's all steampunk this also includes the names of the various airships!

In majority of my writing I tend to just simply have a vauge plot line in my head and expand it was I'm writing. This has worked successfully for years however this week I found myself working on the latest Captain Barnabus story and felt the urge to plot it. The story is hopefully going to be a decent size and now I've got the first 16 chapters plotted. Which leaves just the fun of writing to be done! We'll see how being more organised and plotting works for me so watch this space.

In the meantime Valves & Vixens 2 is coming soon! However if you can't wait for it and haven't picked up Valves & Vixens Volume 1 why not head over to pick up a copy - you won't regret it.

Weekly Update - End of May!

Wow well this month has just flown by - and I'm beginning to believe that I'm going to say that at the end of every month this year because the year just seems to have melted away.

So another week has gone by and I've managed a little bit of writing, more than I was expecting although not as much as I would like. I'm working on a story that is set in the world of Captain Barnabus. Although I'm realising I need to now make a chart of all the people in the world and their interactions with one another. The story however is progressing and I'm enjoying just working on it without a real deadline.

In other news I'm polishing up Valves & Vixens Volume 2 so expect some more news on that soon! I'm loving this anthology we've got some very varied stories in it and I can't wait to see it in print - it's also a whopper in size!

Other than that I've been planning and plotting more stories and looking over various guidelines. Although I don't submit to as many places as I used to I always keep an eye out for something that sparks the imagination and gets the words flowing.

Watch this space!

Writing update

Well! It happened again as I knew it would at some stage. Life reared its head and dragged me away from the computer and writing pads so for the past couple of weeks I've done next to no writing.

However! It hasn't been all negatives, I've been able to get away and explore places I've never been to which of course has sparked more ideas for stories (why do we only have 24 hours in the day?). I've also managed to get lots of other work done as well as still managing to keep relatively organised.

In somewhat more exciting news a manuscript has also been handed in and there will be news on that coming soon. Here is a sneak peek:

So what next? Well I've got a lot more writing to get done and I've got some outstanding submissions I've got to get work done on but I'm also fleshing out an idea for a book staring the totally dashing and over the top Captain Barnabas (you can read a little about him in Valves & Vixens Book 1).

Then there is the blogs, I've got a few in planning and will be getting them up regularly all being well.

In other news I rarely make really serious posts however the devastation in Nepal from the recent earthquakes can't really be ignored.

Coming Together: Through the Storm was put together to raise money for people in the Philippines the proceeds of the sales all go toward Mercy Corps.

When I put the anthology together I wanted the anthology to benefit not just the Philippines but also many other places that Mercy Corps work in. They have been in Nepal since the first earthquake and will be for a long time.

All proceeds from the sale of Coming Together: Through the Storm go to Mercy Corps so buying it will help Mercy Corps and Nepal as well as the continued help in the Philippines. So why not donate some money and get some great stories to read at the same time!

A new week

Well it's been a week so how has the writing been coming along?

So far this week I've been pretty much on target with the writing. Life has been hectic as was expected and it's not going to get any less hectic any time soon – so in reality I need to just deal with it. I have so little time that I need to learn to work smarter and make the most of my time, this week I'm happy to say that I've pretty much hit all my targets. More importantly however when I haven't met them I've not beaten myself up about it and instead have just got on with the next thing I needed to do.

As of a result of the new schedule I've hit all the targets and some more. Let's see how it goes for the next week shall we?

So what have I been working on? Well I've come up with a few new story plot-lines one of which I've been fleshing out and writing. It's a bit of a departure from what I normally write but its an exciting one for me and I'm enjoying exploring it.

I've also been putting the finishing touches to Valves & Vixens 2 so watch this space! I love steampunk and I'm still very excited and deeply honoured that I get to put together anthologies in a genre I enjoy.

For those of you who can't wait don't forget you can still pick up Valves & Vixens Volume 1 in both ebook and paperback.
