More Smut for Chocoholics Inspiration Post - Slave Nano

I admit I love chocolate. I love the taste of it and the texture and I love how it can come in so many different varieties and still melt in your mouth. So More Smut For Chocoholics was the perfect book for me! Edited by Kev 'Mitnik' Blisse & Tilly Hunter and published by House of Erotica I couldn't wait to submit to this one. This book is currently available in ebook format but it will also soon be available in print so watch this space.

Today I want to welcome and introduce Slave Nano to the blog with his explanation of the inspiration behind his story Los Conquistadores and the Goddess of Chocolate. It's one of the many great stories that can be found within the pages of More Smut For Chocoholics (including mine - The Competition). However I love far distant history so this is going to be a real treat for me.

So without further ado here is Slave Nano!

The inspiration behind Los Conquistadores and the Goddess of Chocolate

More Smut for Chocoholics is a collection of erotic short stories edited by Tilly Hunter and Kevin Blisse on the theme of chocolate. The anthology is all about over-indulgence and taking wicked delight in the erotic consumption and use of chocolate. It includes stories by Tilly Hunter, Victoria Blisse, Aurelia T Evans, Lucy Felthouse, Ruby Madsen, Jacqueline Brocker, Vanessa de Sade, Wendi Zwaduk, Jillian Boyd, Nicole Gestalt, Annabeth Leong and Anna Sky.

My contribution to More Smut for Chocoholics is a story called ‘Los Conquistadores and the Goddess of Chocolate’. The story is a humorous one and follows two adventurers, Juan and Alonso who, inspired by stories about the legendary Aztec city, desert from Cortez’s army of conquistadores to seek out an erotic paradise fuelled by the drink xocolatl made from the cacao bean. In the story Juan and Alonso are brought before Ixquic, the high priestess of the Aztec fertility goddess Ixcacao, whose statue plays an important part in their adventures.

Allusions to Pagan deities run through some of my writing, so when thinking of a theme for a story to write for More Smut for Chocoholics it wasn’t surprising I’d choose to take chocolate back to its Aztec origins and use Ixcacao, the Goddess of Chocolate, as an inspiration for it!

Ixcacao is a genuine Mayan deity, the goddess of the cacao tree and chocolate and also a fertility and earth goddess. In an agricultural society where gathering crops and seeing that everyone was fed was women’s work the Chocolate Goddess, along with the Corn Mother and Rain Goddess were frequently invoked.

There are stories about Ixcacao in a text called Popul Vuh, one of the most valuable sources for Mayan religious belief. She plays an important role in Mayan creation mythology by coming to the aid of Ixquic (yes, I did borrow this name for the high priestess character in my story), who, when set the seemingly impossible challenge of gathering a net bag of corn from a field with a single cob invokes the aid of the goddesses. Ixquic goes on to father Hunaphu and Xbalanque, the sacred twins, who defeat the forces of the underworld and make the world a safe place to live in.

There is a prayer based on this legend that was invoked to ensure a good harvest:
Ixcanil, Goddess of Seed, hear me
Ixtoq, Goddess of Rain, help me
Ixcacao, Goddess of Chocolate, see my tears and come to my aid.

Ixcacao is a fertility goddess and, given the aphrodisiacal qualities of the xocolatl (Montezuma was reported to have drunk 40-50 goblets a day to sustain his daily visits to his harem!) it’s hardly surprising she’s also a goddess of love and pleasure.

In my story Juan and Alonso certainly find that out!

The formalities completed and Juan and Alonso having been received into the imperial court with Montezuma’s blessing the high priestess led them through into another chamber. This one was decorated with tapestries and its floor strewn with cushions and blankets in vibrant colours and bold abstract patterns. At one end and looking over the chamber with a serene smile was a life-size statue of a voluptuous woman. Unlike the slender Ixquic with her firm pert breasts, the goddess statue was big, round and beautiful.
This is Ixcacao, the goddess of xocolatl,” explained Ixquic, “she is the goddess of the cacao tree. She is also a goddess of fertility, love and pleasure and she stands there to observe our rites in her honour.”
Juan gave Alonso a knowing nudge and whispered, “What did I tell you – love, pleasure!”
Whilst I prepare the xoxolatl, a ritual that cannot be hurried, you must take a bath imbued with cocoa oil to cleanse you before you partake of our mystical beverage. And you both stink, so I would recommend it. The acolytes of Ixcacao who serve in her temple will assist you.”
Juan and Alonso were invited to discard their tunics and armour and, however insulted they were at being told they stunk, they couldn’t hide the rancid smell of dry sweat following their trek across the mountains in the searing heat.
Their indignation was soon assuaged by the sight of the Aztec maidens who had come to minister to them. Four girls, two for each of them, naked save for the gold jewellery hanging from their ears and noses.
They were beauties, even exceeding Juan’s expectations from the descriptions he had heard. Their bodies were lithe and supple, their sleek hair dark as jet hung down to their waists and their rich brown eyes glinted with a playful twinkle. They took the two men by the hand and led them to a sunken bath at one side of the chamber beckoning them down the steps into a pool of hot water that had already been prepared. The water had an oily texture and yellow hue created by the infusion of cocoa oil. After the heat and dust of the mountains it felt like luxury to immerse themselves in the steaming pool.
Do you believe me now?” asked Juan.
I’ve got to say my friend, I’m liking this,” Alonso replied.
