This tour was set up it seems like ages ago and now suddenly Alison Tyler appears! As readers will know I love learning about other peoples inspirations and writing habits so Alison's post is just the perfect thing for me.
Before I introduce Alison however let me talk a little bit about Those Boys a short novella by Alison Tyler and published by Go Deeper Press. It will be available on the 21st July.
Since it is a short piece I don't want to go into too much detail about it suffice to say when I read it through I really enjoyed it. All the characters (both the main Dom and the two subs) are well written and although a little bit more discussion regarding them wouldn't have gone amiss I found the interaction between the main players to be page turning. The BDSM scenes in the story are good but definitely leaving you wanting more (which means you completely should check out Alison's other stories!) although this is in a good way and had it been a longer story I can imagine they would have been gone into with much more detail.
As it was this story was read through in one sitting and I had to take a cold shower afterwards. I liked the characters that Alison has come up with in this novella and I do hope she does more with them!
Now to introduce Alison herself!
The Way I Think
By Alison Tyler
Let’s talk about the process. I always expect the process to be different. Like I always expect my purse to be cleaner, my lipstick drawer (okay, trunk) to be organized, my underwear to stay in neat little stacks.
But that’s not the way my brain works.
Even after all these years, I still believe that someday I will write my notes in an easy-to-decipher fashion. That I will use a cool notebook like the hipsters you see at cafes. That I will carry a pen with me.
In reality, these are my notes.
Can you read the words? Can you try?
Thankfully, I can—and I guess that’s all that really matters.
The words say (with some cross-outs):
One of the sexiest things I can imagine
“I’m not afraid of your desires”
“Your needs don’t scare me.”
You’re 21 – play w/me for a second.
You’re 21 and you’re at a frat party.
Sweet blonde falls into your lap. “Someone’s had a little too much punch,” you say.
She looks at you — “You’re not my daddy.”
She has literally fallen into your lap. All your desires – All of your fantasies wrapped up into one hot blonde.
“I could be,” you say.
Now here’s the funny part. The last few words are continued on the other side of the note. Along with my actual grocery list which reads:
Carrots, peppercorns, chocolate chips, anchovies, oranges, apples, baking potatoes.
And, you know, “All of your fantasies wrapped up into one hot blonde.”
Someday, I may have an organized lipstick drawer. Someday, my underwear may stay in neat little stacks. But never—I know this now—never will the words come cleanly. Never will I sit in bright sunlight with my moleskin and write in an even line. I will always be scrounging for a scrap of paper when inspiration hits. I will always be writing on the back of a receipt, a junk mail letter, a grocery list, my arm. Because the words come when they want to. I probably ought to accept that by now.
